Sean Penn visits to American businessman arrested in Bolivia

The american actor Sean Penn visited his compatriot, businessman Jacob Ostreicher, a prisoner in Bolivia, that he is considered unfairly linked to drug trafficking.

Sean Penn visited to Ostreicher in the prison Palmasola, localized in the eastern city of Santa Cruz, the last Wednesday october 31 2012, a day after their meeting in La Paz with President Evo Morales.

The actor and businessman were together for at least an hour.
It was reported that Penn's visit focused on cooperation with Haiti and the requests of President Morales to promote the Bolivian maritime claim to Chile and the extradition from the United States of ex president Bolivian Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada, accused of killing 60 people in 2003.

Ostreicher reached to Bolivia four years ago to invest $ 26 million in rice production in Santa Cruz.

However, the entrepreneur has been detained since 3 June 2011 in Bolivia accused of alleged laundering of illicit proceeds, after two employees were arrested for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking

The case has suffered several delays in the Bolivian justice system that have been denounced by the employer's counsel, Yimy Montaño, and Republican Congressman Christopher Smith, who was in Bolivia in June to make arrangements for Ostreicher.
